A bride-to-be from Bomet County on Saturday left Kenyans confused after canceling a wedding a few hours before the main day without a reason.

According to the pastor set to preside over the marriage, the lady was reluctant to continue with the arrangement, demanding more time.

However, the lady speaking to the press clarified that she had not run away as assumed by Kenyans.

The bride added that she was in the house with her parents and other family members.

She asked Kenyans to stop castigating her without knowing the whole story.

The lady also explained that the wedding was just postponed not canceled asking for time to clear some matters with the groom.

"Yesterday we were told that the wedding cannot continue because of the delay of some letters but we were waiting for the day like never before," she remarked.

Additionally, she revealed that when the wedding plans were cut short, the whole family was heartbroken.

The bride-to-be was allegedly inconsolable since they had dated since March.

She was hopeful that the wedding would continue on a later day adding she was waiting to be counseled by church elders alongside her husband.

"I am waiting for the reverend to call us. We didn't cancel the wedding, it was postponed," she emphasised.

However, a section of Kenyans were unsatisfied by the lady's response. They accused her of not loving the groom.

They demanded to hear the groom's side of the story arguing that the man must have been heartbroken by the news, especially after paying the dowry.

Meanwhile, the presiding pastor had on Saturday revealed that the bride refused to hand over essential documents such as her national identity card for marriage registration.

He added that the planning committee was lucky since it had only spent Ksh50,000 on the wedding incurring minimal losses.

Notably, this was not the only wedding to be canceled on Saturday.

Several instances were recorded across the country with one bride accused of spending a night at the pastor's house on the eve of her wedding.
