The family of a 4-year-old boy has been left distraught after the lifeless body of their child was found dumped in a garbage pit filled with water four days after he went missing.

According to the mother who had appealed for help on social media, her son encountered a painful death after being tortured prompting the family to call on the relevant authorities to carry out thorough investigations to find out exactly what transpired.

In a statement, the mother revealed that her only child disappeared on December 20, at around 4 pm. Upon learning that her child was missing, she filed a report at the nearest police station and since then, she alongside family and friends had been searching for the boy.

"I am so stressed, if you met with him on the road please inform me. If you have my boy please return him to me, I will appreciate it," she appealed in a statement initially.

After days of agony and searching for the 4-year-old, the mother received horrifying news of her son's sudden demise. He was found floating in the garbage pit.

His mother identified him through the clothes he was wearing since his face had been disfigured.  In a statement, the mother revealed that the news had left her heartbroken and wondering why anyone would cause such cruelty to an innocent child.

The child's body has since been taken to the mortuary ahead of an autopsy and burial.

"You have died a painful death, my son. You have left us too early, may those who did this be held culpable," she wrote.

Speaking to the media, the mother revealed that the family requires Ksh15,000 for the autopsy to be conducted and to make funeral arrangements. She, therefore, appealed for help from well-wishers.

The mother suspected that her son may have been strangled before his body was dumped at the site based on the marks on his neck.

Following the incident, Kenyans have condemned the heinous act. They called upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to conduct thorough investigations and arrest those found culpable.

Kenyans across the board have since condoled with the grieving mother and her family. Most pointed out that the child did not deserve such a cruel death.

"It is so sad to see such a young boy's life being taken so brutally. May his soul find peace," one person stated.

However, a section of Kenyans opined that the mother had not divulged all the information surrounding the son's disappearance, raising questions about what happened.
