96 Teachers Caught Having Sexual Relations With Students Banned From Teaching

Over 100 teachers have been blacklisted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over allegations of sexually abusing their students.

The 126 teachers were found guilty of the offense among other forms of misconduct.

The Nation reports that the teachers will never teach again in the country after they were struck off the Teachers Service Commission register by the TSC’s disciplinary committee.

According to Classic 105, 96 teachers had been accused of having sexual relations with their students, after parents, students and schools took the cases before the commission.

Out of the 96 found guilty, two were female teachers.

The commission says it will release names of the de-registered teachers annually to ensure the public is informed.

The TSC says that while they receive complaints and reports of the abuse, some parents refuse to report such cases with some unwilling to provide evidence.

They are however encouraging parents and affected students to report the cases so that those involved will be held accountable.

The High Court recently ordered the commission and former teacher Henry Amkoah to pay Sh5 Million to two girls the teacher defiled back in 2010.
