115 of the total 122 candidates who sat for the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Riara Springs Girls' High School have secured university slots after attaining C+ and above, effectively ranking the institution among top-tier schools in Kenya’s secondary education.

The performance defied expectations and surpassed the national average whose figures, as announced by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu on Monday morning, showed that boys outperformed girls as top performers.

Riara Springs posted 1 plain A, 19 A- (minus), 31 B+ (plus), and 27 B (plain). 22 others scooped B-  (minus) while 15 got C+ (plus), all of whom secured direct slots at institutions of higher learning.

As a result, Riara Springs Girls High School posted an improved mean grade of 8.96 up from the previous year’s 8.3.

Tiffany Wanjiru Maina was the trailblazer, topping this year's class with a straight A and was among 391 leading girls nationally.

While releasing the results in Eldoret, Machogu indicated that 201,133 candidates, representing 22.27 per cent, scored C+ and above and will be eligible for direct entry to the university.

Internally, the school, which is part of the expansive Riara Group of Schools stemming from kindergarten to the university, also posted impressive performance in computer studies where all students scored straight As save for one candidate.

A few weeks earlier, the high school’s sister primary, Riara Springs Academy, produced the top candidate nationally in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) released in November 2023.

Michael Warutere, who aspires to pursue a career in Software Engineering as he revealed in an interview with Kenyans.co.ke, scooped the exam's best mark of 428.

"I really thank God for the marks that he has granted me. I want to thank our parents and teachers for holding our hands and helping us succeed," the candidate celebrated at the time.

"I would love to attend Mang'u High School. Hopefully, with these marks, I will get a seat in that school," he added.

Riara Springs Academy and Riara Springs Girls’ High School are schools under the umbrella, of Riara Group of Schools (RGS), founded by renowned scholars Mr. Daniel and Dr. Eddah Gachukia.

Other institutions include Riara Kindergarten, Riara Springs Kindergarten, Riara Primary School, Riara Junior High School, Riara Springs Junior High School, Riara International School and Riara University.
