The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has called on 2023 KCSE candidates to be vigilant in monitoring information regarding the application to universities and colleges.
In a notice, the body tasked with placing students in tertiary institutions acknowledged that it had yet to open the application portal for the students.
KUCCPS indicated that such information would be made public in the coming days through its official platforms.
"Monitor KUCCPS online platforms for updates through www.kuccps.ac.ke, on X, formerly Twitter (@kuccps_official) and the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (The.Placement.Service) for Facebook.
"We look forward to offering support in accessing courses in universities, colleges and TVET institutions," read the notice in part.
On the other hand, the institution also acknowledged requests by potential applicants over the application system which was marred with delays during last year's application process.
KUCCPS issued the notice hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the 2023 results.
In the 2023 results, 201,133 students scored a mean grade of C+ and above. Some 92,612 students scored C while another 107,471 students scored C- (minus).
125, 006 students scored Grade D+ while 155,276 candidates scored Grade D. As reported by Machogu, 165,861 students scored D- (minus) with 48,174 students scoring E.
It is yet to be known whether entry requirements to universities and colleges will change given that a new grading system was used for last year's examinations.
However, CS Machogu noted that the new grading system was aimed at ensuring that most students secure their courses of choice at various tertiary institutions.
The CS also directed KUCCPS to educate the 2023 candidates on the grading system and the new financing model that was launched by President William Ruto last year.
"The new reform measure will allow a larger number of students to pursue courses of their choice at the universities, Diploma and TVET training at Certificate and Artisan levels than was previously when the grading was more restrictive," he stated.
