Former Nominated MP Hassan Noor has lifted the lid on attempts to evict him and his family from their Kileleshwa home.

While addressing the press on Tuesday, the lawmaker accused a senior Kenya Kwanza politician of working in cahoots with a leading parastatal head to kick the family out of the land.

He claimed that despite obtaining a court order preventing the eviction, police officers had received an order from a higher power and sent goons to oversee the eviction.

"We have a valid lease which has not expired. The matter in contention here is this parcel of land located in Kileleshwa, Kandara Road. This matter is in court. The (parastatals) managing director has deliberately ignored valid court orders," Noor alleged.

"The principal magistrate had given an injunction in as far as this land is concerned. Despite that court injunction, there is an attempt to illegally evict us on a daily basis to do double leasing."

The lawmaker further claimed that attempts to kick them out have been made numerously, including in the wee hours of the night.

During one episode, the goons sent to frustrate the family family members assaulted his mother in the process.

Noor alleged that some of his neighbours were also subjected to similar threats.

"It is unfortunate that senior police officers want to aid an illegality to an extent that you will see goons trying to storm and when you raise an alarm to the nearest police station, Kileleshwa, it seems that the said goons have an upper hand [sic]," he added.

"Our family members, including our mother, were assaulted here despite a P3 (police medical examination form) being on record. The investigations seem not to take cause simply because of political interference."

The incident comes months after Aldai MP Marianne Kitany was embroiled in a house ownership dispute with Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.

Linturi sought court orders to evict Kitany from his Runda home which he was granted in March 2023.

Across town, members of the Kirima family are also in talks of taking back their land, estimated at 500 acres, from squatters in Embakasi.

The court had ordered the squatters to vacate the parcel but reports indicate that the family agreed to sell portions of the land to individuals willing to make the purchases.
