Drama ensued at the Nakuru Memorial Hospital on Monday after an angry family confronted and chased away a Nakuru kanjo who reportedly disconnected a dialysis machine from their kin, effectively risking their relative's life.

In the episode which was recorded by journalists, the family members appeared to be baying for the employee's blood and could be heard asking the staffer why he resorted to the drastic action.

"There is no way you can do this, this is so wrong. Why are you running away, who do you think you are?" one of the family members questioned.

In an attempt to avert the confrontation, the Nakuru County employee walked out of the premises while speaking on his phone. The family members, dissatisfied with the responses they had gotten until that point, followed the officer, asking him more questions. However, he did not respond.

This did not deter the irked family from questioning the officer on whether he fully understood the consequences of his actions and the importance of dialysis for patients with kidney problems.

At one point, the kanjo was wrestled to the ground by one of the people protesting against him. However, his fellow officers rescued him.

Responding to the incident, Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja condemned the act and called upon Governor Susan Kihika to intervene and resolve the matter as soon as possible.

She also revealed that she will escalate the matter to President William Ruto, who is expected to visit Nakuru on Tuesday, January 23.

"Fortunately, President William Ruto is coming to Nakuru tomorrow. As a Senator for Nakuru County, I am going to ask him whether the Nakuru people elected us, overwhelming only for them to have their lives threatened at the hospital. This must stop," she stated.

The unfortunate incident was one of the negative consequences of the protracted battle between the Nakuru County Government and the hospital's management which have both laid claim to ownership and are attempting to take over control of the facility.

Governor Kihika is on record stating that the hospital's directors among other government employees grabbed the land where the hospital sits on which she stated was meant for public use.

"We shall not relent and we shall not be intimidated, public land will remain to be public land," she remarked on Monday.

At least five people have been arrested so far and charged with abuse of office, forgery, and conspiracy to defraud in connection with the ownership tussle.

On Tuesday, the kanjos blocked journalists from accessing the facility.
