A group of rowdy youth, a majority of whom were boda boda riders, stormed Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in Kisumu on Sunday morning and beat a man to death.

One of the hospital's staff told the press that the incident occurred after he confessed to murdering a businesswoman the previous night.

The deceased had rushed into the emergency room of the hospital to escape the mob which was baying for his blood.

Unfortunately, the mob entered the hospital and went straight to where the man was hiding overpowering the hospital's security in the process.

"The culprit entered up to the emergency area where I was caught up with the mob who were in pursuit (of the suspect)," the staffer stated.

"They overpowered our security team who pleaded with them not to kill the person within the hospital. They later carried the culprit and killed him outside the gate."

According to the reports, the mob then left for Kibuye market where they also lynched another suspect accused of belonging to a gang.

Boda boda riders in the area lamented that the gang had tainted their image by using motorbikes to carry out their heinous act.

They noted that they had discovered the perpetrators always traveled in groups of three and operated at night using bikes with no number plates.

"Others are using motorbikes and are always in the company of three at night. If you find them, arrest them. If you see three people on a motorbike at night, they are not genuine boda boda operators," lamented a boda boda rider.

Police stepped in immediately during the Sunday morning incident and fired in the air to disperse the crowd.

Cases of muggings and insecurity have been on the rise, especially within city centers, which experts attribute to the tough cost of living afflicting many Kenyans.
