Kitengela and the larger Kajiado County have been identified as key areas where Kenyans have been rushing to buy affordable land and put up residential and retirement property.
A HassConsult land price index report released on February 5, 2024, showed that Kitengela, Ngong, Ongata Rongai and Kiserian all in Kajiado County recorded an increase in land prices in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Despite the rush to own property in the region, auction notices placed in the dailies have shown that many landowners are unable to hold onto their investments.
A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that 9 multimillion properties in the region had been placed on auction on Monday, January 5.
Philips International Auctioneers has listed for auction a 0.22298-acre prime residential property located in Korompoi, Kitengela and an additional 2-acre prime property in the neighbouring Isinya.
Additionally, the company has also listed another property within the Shabbiri Tuala area in Ongata Rongai.
“The plot extends to 0.053 of a hectare or 0.13096 of an acre with title deed held on a freehold interest,” the auction notice read in part.
Still in Kitengela, the auction company has invited bidders for an incomplete six bedroom all ensuite, two-storey townhouse, a servant's quarter, an external ablution and a piggery unit.
It was reported that the house was 92 per cent complete with the plot also developed with semi-permanent poultry units.
Watts Auctions on the same local dailies advertised the auction of a 3-bedroom bungalow and a double-storey commercial located in the Kahuho area in Kiserian.
While most of the properties being sold are houses under different stages of development, Viewline Auctioneers listed an agricultural property within the Kimuka area in Kajiado to be auctioned on Thursday, February 22.
The Ngong area also within Kajiado County has seen a property being put into auction by by Keysian Auctioneers.
The property boasts a double-storeyed block of flats comprising two-bedroom units (2), one-bedroom units (10) and bedsitters (11).
In one of the largest properties to be auctioned in Kajiado County, Dalali Auctioneers has listed for auction a 10-acre property within Kiserian Township alongside Magadi Road.
Lastly, Direct O Auctioneers have also put a 48-acre piece of land located in the Olooylangalani area in Isinya up for auction.
