Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata has called out the national government for abandoning three crucial machines President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration had assigned to Murang'a Level 5 hospital.

While responding to a school bus accident that killed three pupils and left many others nursing injuries on Saturday night, Kang'ata assured parents and victims' families that the county government would stand with them.

He noted that the injured were taken to Murang'a Level 5 and Maragua Hospitals for treatment.

Kang'ata further revealed that the county government had repaired two machines that were installed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime but allegedly abandoned by the current regime.

The machines include; Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CT Scan, and Xray.

"There are three important machines that were originally placed here by the previous national government. Those machines were MRI, CT Scan, and Xray," stated Kang'ata.

"We were able to revive two using our own means after the national government decided not to continue with those services. We took up the mantle, we maneuvered and serviced the machines despite no budgetary provisions for that."

He further noted that the county had sent a fire-fighting truck and staff to evacuate the scene of the accident and tow the wreckage to the police station.

"43 persons were in that vehicle. 38 children, 3 teachers and 2 other persons including the driver and all of them are being taken care of here in Murang'a," he added.

"The county sent the fire department to evacuate the wreckage at Mathioya and we want to assure that those who came to Murang'a were attended to. Because of the numbers, some were transferred to Maragua."

The accident involving the Maadili Primary School bus overturned on Saturday evening while returning from a scouts event in Nyeri County.

The school bus lost control and veered off the road before overturning in a roadside thicket. Police were deployed to the scene of the accident immediately.
