Traffic Snarl-Up After Truck Overturns at Ole Sereni Along Mombasa Road [VIDEO]

A heavy traffic snarl-up was witnessed at the Ole Sereni area along Mombasa Road on Sunday after a truck transporting energy drinks overturned.

A video obtained by Kenyans.co.ke showed the lorry overturned with crates and cartons of the drink spilled across the highway.

The accident occurred a few meters away from the Ole Sereni exit of the Nairobi Expressway.

Police were immediately deployed to the area shortly after the crash occurred and helped control the movement of traffic.

It was not clear whether there were casualties or the value of the damaged goods by the time of publishing this story.

The crash comes days after another truck overturned along the busy highway and blocked sections of Mombasa Road and the Nairobi Expressway around the Syokimau area.

The trailer which was plying along Mombasa Road on Friday, February 16, landed on the barrier of the Expressway and crossed over to a section of the elevated highway.

The incident happened near the Gateway Mall and affected motorists who were leaving Nairobi and headed in the Machakos direction

"The trailer was from Nairobi and headed to Machakos. The incident happened just near the Gateway Mall. Police were already at the scene by the time we got there," he stated.

Police officers were also deployed to the section to control the traffic.

In 2023, NTSA reported that road accidents claimed the lives of 4,324 Kenyans. Pedestrians and motorcyclists were the most affected. 1,591 pedestrians died in the accidents while 1,133 motorcyclists lost their lives

Most of the accidents were reported to have taken place between 7-9 pm. 1,100 fatalities were recorded during this window.
