REREC Announces Public Auction of Vehicles for as Low Ksh 103K; How to Bid

The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) has announced a public auction of vehicles, with prices starting as low as Ksh103,000.

In a notice dated Wednesday, February 28, the agency revealed that it was offering several of its Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for sale.

REREC listed two brands for the auction, including the Chery Tiggo, manufactured in China, and the Japanese make, Daihatsu Terios.

The cheapest vehicle on sale is the Daihatsu Terios, whose price was estimated at Ksh103,250. On the other hand, the Chery Tigo was the most expensive with the price set at Ksh206,500.

REREC highlighted that the vehicles would be sold on March 14 at the Kawi Complex in South C.

How to Bid

Interested buyers were advised to visit the REREC offices along Mombasa Road to view the vehicles before participating in the auction process.

"Viewing of the vehicles is permitted at REREC Offices Mombasa Road (opposite JKIA Interchange) during normal working hours (Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm) to verify the details, as these are not warranted by us or the auctioneers, given that the sale is on an 'as-is-where-is-basis'.

"All interested bidders will be required to make a refundable deposit of Ksh10,000 per item/ Vehicle in cash or a bankers’ cheque in favour of Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation to obtain both a bidding number and a catalogue," read the statement in part.

REREC added that successful bidders would be required to make the payments after the sale and remove the vehicles from the yard within 14 days.

"Payment for the vehicles will be either in Cash, Bankers Cheque or Electronic Funds Transfer in favour of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation failure to which the deposit will be forfeited and the subject vehicles offered for sale again.

"Failure to remove the vehicles from the REREC yard within the stipulated time will attract a storage fee of Ksh500 per day," read the notice in part.
