Police in Bomet have launched a manhunt for a man from Silibwet after he on Friday, March 1, murdered four people including his two children.
In the horrific incident, the suspect allegedly armed with a machete walked into his home where he attacked the four who also included his house help and one of his relative's children.
The four, his two children aged 2 years and 16 years, his niece aged 8 years and a househelp aged 16 years succumbed to injuries sustained from the attack.
According to the police, the man committed the heinous act while his wife was at Silibwet town. The police are yet to establish where the assailant got the weapon, which has since been taken in as evidence.
The Bomet Central sub-county Deputy Police Commander Ali Bashir further explained that the suspect slashed his daughter on the cheek first, before proceeding to kill the niece in a similar manner.
The father then cut the 16-year-old house help multiple times. His son managed to escape, however, he went after him slashing him several times.
The bodies of the deceased were later moved to the Tenwek Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
The Deputy Police Commander in the region has put together a team to search for the man, who fled the scene before the police could apprehend him.
In a similar incident on February 24, a man is suspected to have killed four of his family members in the Milenya area in Muhoroni Kisumu County.
According to police reports, the man stabbed and killed his five-month pregnant wife and his son to death, before running away.
The man then proceeded to his uncle’s house a few metres away, where he killed him and his wife on the spot, before escaping through a sugarcane shamba a short distance from the scene of the crime.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Ahero sub-county morgue awaiting autopsy and further investigations.
