New CCTV footage has shown that the woman who died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani entered the short-term rental in the company of a man at 3:00am on Sunday.

The clip showed that the man, who led the way, was dressed in a white t-shirt with black stripes, a black pair of trousers and white sneakers.

The lady, on the other hand, was wearing a pink top and white trousers while carrying a grey-coloured sweater.

Upon arrival at the apartment, the man incidentally turned in the wrong direction before heading to the apartment the two had booked for the night.

He then opened the door and the 19-year-old lady was the first to enter the apartment. He followed shortly after.

Witnesses had earlier told the press that they rushed to the scene of the accident after hearing a loud thud as the lady succumbed to the impact of the fall.

The police then launched investigations into the incident and found the man (name withheld) unconscious with eight stab wounds. They rushed him to a nearby hospital where he is receiving treatment under police custody and will be treated as the main suspect.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) believe that the lady, whose body did not have a stab wound, was either pushed or jumped. They are, therefore, hunting for three other suspects who were in communication with her before the incident happened.

Earlier, detectives established that the two met at a nightclub along Mirema Drive in Roysambu before heading to the apartment only to leave for another club shortly after. They later returned to the house at 3:00 am.

Photos from the house showed blood splattered everywhere in the living room and the bathroom.

Once the officers arrived at the scene of the accident, they restricted the public from accessing the building to ensure that the crime scene area was not tampered with.

According to data from Femicide Count Kenya, at least ten women were killed in January 2024, indicating a worrying trend. Additionally, 504 women lost their lives between 2019 and 2024.

The cases prompted lobby groups to call on the government to declare femicide a national emergency and include it in the penal code.
