Officers attached to Kasarani Police Station were dispatched to the scene following distress calls over the incident.

Passersby, curious to understand what had transpired gathered around at the gate.

Once the officers arrived at the scene of the accident, they restricted the public from accessing the building to ensure that the crime scene area was not tampered with.

The detectives cordoned off the apartment, which serves as a short-term stay accommodation, to establish the events that led to the woman's demise.

At the time of publishing this article, the woman's identity was yet to be established.

Following identification of the body, the police will contact the lady's family and subsequently conduct a post-mortem examination to establish the actual cause of her death.

The incident comes amid recent concerns regarding femicide cases in the country.

According to data from Femicide Count Kenya, at least ten women were killed in January 2024, indicating a worrying trend. Additionally, 504 women lost their lives between 2019 and 2024.

The cases prompted lobby groups to call on the government to declare femicide a national emergency and include it in the penal code.
