Intelligence leads from Police in Uganda on Monday, March 11, revealed that a wanted murder suspect was hiding in Kenya.

According to reports, the suspect fled the country after the murder of a businessman last month in Kampala.

The police have called upon members of the public to help arrest the man to ensure that he is charged in court.

Additionally, the police have placed a Ksh354,500 (UGX10 million) bounty on the suspect.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, told the press that since the bounty was announced, the police had received a lot of leads which have not amounted to much.

"Ever since we announced the bounty, several members of the public from Kalangala, Buikwe, Ibanda and other parts of the country have provided information they claim to lead to the arrest of the suspect. But this information was not useful," Enanga revealed.

He added that crime intelligence and other agencies were using all capabilities to track and arrest the suspect while emphasising that the bounty was still available for anyone providing credible information.

Other five suspects in the murder were on Monday arraigned in court and remanded at Luzira Prison as investigations into the case continue.

Notably, the deceased was the head of the Ndiga clan in the Buganda Kingdom. Police suspect that the murder is related to a cultural seat conflict dating back five centuries ago.

Individuals who knew the suspect revealed that the main suspect always claimed to be the rightful holder of the Ndiga Clan seat resulting in the feud between him and the deceased.

The suspect was recorded in an earlier video lamenting that those in power were destroying the history of the Buganda people to the extent of selling the ancestral land.

"These people have been telling lies to the Kabaka about how they fall under the Ndiga clan. They have been selling all our clan land, making them not the right people to get close to the throne. Our motive is to protect the throne and fight for it," the man stated, in a video published by the Daily Monitor.
