Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has lamented the early morning routine set for various state officials by President William Ruto.
Speaking in Kericho on Thursday, March 14, Gachagua noted that the president and other Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) wake up at 3:00 am, while he wakes up at 4:00 am.
He however playfully asked the Kericho residents to defend hi to the President to set the waking time at 5:00 am, citing his old age, which he continued to say affected his ability to follow the routine.
“Will you defend me? I’m a bit strained. In his efforts to build the nation, he hurts us a little,” Gachagua stated.
“I’m a bit old, and also I’m a pastor’s husband, I should not be waking up too early.”
Gachagua further noted that he has supported the President in all his endeavours, reminding the hundreds gathered around the leaders of his efforts in echoing Ruto’s agenda since the elections ended.
During the 2022 general election campaigns, in his speech, Gachagua had promised to work hard, noting that he was an early riser ready to serve the people.
The state’s second in command was in Kericho joining President William Ruto, during the commissioning of the Kapsuser-Sosiot Road in Belgut.
President William Ruto while speaking during the same event, promised Kenyans a huge reduction in fuel prices, vowing that the Kenya Kwanza Government was focused on fulfilling their promises to the citizens.
‘I want to tell you that even fuel prices will go down so relax. Today is March 14 and we will get new low fuel prices,” he stated.
The previous Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene prices in Nairobi were Ksh206.36, Ksh195.47 and Ksh193.23 respectively.
Following the president's speech, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority(EPRA), on Thursday, announced new fuel prices where petrol was reduced by Ksh7.21, Diesel by Ksh5.09 and Kerosene by Ksh4.49.
