A retired teacher from Nyamira County was found dead with his body hanging on a tree on Sunday morning.

The residents are however claiming that the death was not a suicide case, as they are suspecting that the body was dragged and hang in the forest.

Reports from the family have indicated the teacher received a phone call for him to go receive payment for a debt from an individual who owed him in Kisii Town.

It is reported that the teacher had sold a parcel of land at Ksh2.5 million and a car for Ksh400,000 which he was supposed to receive from the debtor.

However, his family reported that his phone went off after leaving home, with attempts to reach him turning futile.

Residents claim that the body was found alongside his identification documents and an acid bottle lying on the ground.

Additionally, the residents have added that some money was found next to the identification documents of the teacher.

The family are now urging law enforcement to investigate what they term as foul play.

Further, they have explained that they would like investigations conducted on the debtor with the family noting that they consider him a suspect in the case.

The body of the teacher has been moved to the morgue awaiting autopsy reports to determine the cause of the death.

Additionally, the families have also requested that a probe is launched into the matter including on the vehicle that the teacher boarded.

The incident comes after a teacher was stabbed to death in her home in Limuru, Kiambu County in February after an unknown assailant walked into the home stabbing her to death in broad daylight.
