Kenya Pipeline Begins Process of Disposing Used Cars, Stores and Equipment

Kenya Pipeline Company Limited on Tuesday, March 19 announced plans to auction several used motor vehicles to the public.

The state-owned company is also looking to dispose of unserviceable stores and equipment to the public.

In a notice, KPC revealed that it was looking for a suitable vendor to conduct the auction. All interested auctioneers have been urged to send their applications by April 4, 2024.

Once KPC selects the auctioneer, members of the public will be informed of the auction dates to allow them to place their bids.

In the notice, KPC advised all interested bidders to only use the email address listed to avoid sending their applications to other institutions.

"The tender documents can be viewed and downloaded from the website kpc.co.ke (tenders) and tenders.go.ke at no cost. Bidders will be required to register their companies on the KPC Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) portal and send queries only to stores@kpc.co.ke," read part of the notice.

Additionally, bidders were directed to submit the tenders online via the SRM portal and all documents must be uploaded to the collaboration folder.

KPC warned that no bids will be accepted in the tender box except for the original banker's cheque for the deposit with the correct tender reference number, tender name and collect closing date.

Besides Kenya Pipeline, KenGen is also looking for an auctioneer to dispose of a Caterpillar diesel engine scrap, unserviceable and other obsolete items at the retired Garissa thermal plant.

All bids should be submitted by April 10 at 2 pm through the company's online e-procurement portal, kengen.co.ke.

"Those bidders who have submitted their bids and wish to amend them further should not click on 'Withdraw' but click the 'Edit' to enable them to amend their bid response and make appropriate changes," read part of the notice.

Another government entity looking to auction vehicles is the University of Kabianga which is also looking for a suitable auctioneer.

In a notice, the institution announced it was disposing of trees and motor vehicles and all interested auctioneers should submit their bids before April 2 at 11 am.

During car auctions, buyers are urged to be cautious and inspect the vehicles and preferably enlist the services of an expert to avoid buying irreparable items.
