Drama ensued at Nairobi’s Umoja II estate on Tuesday, March 19, after the area Member of the County Assembly Shadrack Namunyu publicly clashed with a group of Nairobi county officers.

The confrontation between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party politician and the county askaris escalated after the latter destroyed a car wash built by the MCA.

The MCA who arrived at the scene moments after the demolition expressed his displeasure, triggering the confrontation.

“Why are you arresting my people? It is bad to construct for them such a project?” questioned the furious politician.

While reprimanding the county officers, the livid MCA could be heard daring the officials to arrest him instead of destroying his projects.

Namunyu's loud voice while shouting at the officers triggered public attention, forcing passers-by who were going on about their duties to stand and watch the saga unfold.

The MCA further questioned whether the move was in line with the Kenya Kwanza government's hustler narrative.

“Come and arrest me and kill me, so setting up a project for the youths is bad?” the MCA could be heard shouting.

"Do you want these youths to engage in crime? Can you tell us the exact reason for the demolitions? Tell us!" the MCA further questioned.

Namunyu accused the officers of vandalising a new tank which he claimed cost him a lot of money as he sought to improve his car wash project.

It is not the first time that the Nairobi County askaris have clashed with residents. In a similar incident captured on March 10, a video emerged of residents from an estate in Nairobi beating up Nairobi City Council officers.

According to reports, the officers had confiscated items from a hardware store within the city. This resulted in a confrontation between the officers and the residents.
