Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday night arrested two suspects accused of being part of a gang of eight men who robbed a newly wedded couple in Kajiado County.

According to detectives, the gang is believed to have raided the holding room located in the Kiserian area of Kajiado where the couple were residing as they planned to embark on their honeymoon.

In the incident that took place on March 18, the gang raided the house and went ahead to steal gifts, household items and electronics.

"Armed with all manner of crude weapons, the malefactors forced entry into the apartment located at Olooseos area of Kiserian, by scaling the wall of the apartment and cutting a window grill," detectives noted.

The bridegroom in a bid to protect the bride from the goon, attempted to repulse the suspects but his efforts hit the rocks as he was beaten severely.

Aware that neighbours would have heard the commotion, the gang hurriedly parked up two TV sets of 44 and 58 inches.

They also stole a microwave, a 13kg gas cylinder, a UPS inverter, three smartphones, and duvets among other wedding gifts and fled.

On receiving the report, Nairobi region crime researchers teamed up with police officers from Kajiado West Sub County to hunt down the suspects.

In the intelligence-led operation, the detectives hunted down two suspects who were believed to be part of the gang. The suspects were arrested within the Kiserian township.

The duo were briefly interrogated, thereafter leading the detectives to their hideout at Olooseos where some of the robbed items were recovered.

The arrest comes four days after detectives arrested two suspects accused of robbing a murder victim in Dandora Phase IV within Nairobi County.

The DCI reported that one of the two suspects was found in possession of a phone having acquired it from his fellow suspect who in turn had acquired it from the murder suspect.
