Siaya Governor James Orengo has warned of the return of nationwide protests owing to the Government’s delay in implementing the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

Speaking within his county during a meeting with ODM delegates, Orengo questioned the continued delay and stood firm in his resolve warning that the trend was likely to plunge the country  into nationwide protests witnessed frequently last year.

A section of Azimio leaders have been alleging that the Kenya Kwanza faction has been sabotaging the implementation of the report which seeks to find long term solutions to the problems affecting Kenya.

“We are demanding that the parties to the NADCO negotiation which was courtered by Kalonzo Musyoka, Kimani Ichungw’ah and Opiyo Wandayi, implement the report,” stated Orengo.

“They must implement NADCO within the timelines that were agreed in the committee, otherwise we shall return to where we were,” cautioned Orengo

Further, Orengo during his address criticised ODM leaders speculating on who would succeed Raila Odinga after the opposition leader exits the Kenyan political landscape.

The former Lands Minister pointed out that Raila was the heartbeat of the ODM party and his support was one of the reasons why the party was still standing.

Senior ODM leaders such as former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya are angling to inherit Raila's political bastion and ascend to the Presidency come 2027.

This came about after Raila declared interest in the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position.

On Monday, March 25, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua declared that he fully embraced the NADCO report after initially habouring several reservations.

During an interview with journalists at his Karen office, Gachagua revealed that he had not seen any signs of a looming handshake between President William Ruto and Raila.

He also stated that he was opposed to the idea once President Ruto informed him that he planned to approach Raila to cool political temperatures in the country. The Deputy President revealed he reluctantly accepted after learning that National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire would attend the meeting.

The two, the DP claimed had proved that they had the best Mt Kenya's best interests at heart.
