99 Government Officers Fired Over Alcohol

99 chiefs and assistant chiefs have lost their jobs following the ongoing war against illicit brews.

According to Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, the officers who lost their jobs are among the officials who were either habitual drunkards or had been abetting the distribution and sale of illicit drinks, the Nation reports.

15 police officers who include 5 OCPDs and 7 OCSs are facing dismissal, after Nkaissery directed that drastic action be taken against them.

The National Police Service has been directed to pursue the cases against the 15 officers to completion.

Speaking yesterday at Harambee House, the Interior CS further said more than 15 million litres of second generation alcohol have been destroyed since the crackdown began two weeks ago.

According to a Star report, 54 sachets of heroine and cocaine, and 2500 rolls of bhang and other forms of narcotic drugs were also seized during the crackdown.
