The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Juja, John Misoi was hospitalised on April 1, after he was attacked during a raid targeting the sale of illicit alcohol in Gachororo, Kiambu County.
Misoi is reported to have led the raid to nab those selling illicit alcohol and narcotics when he was attacked using an arrow by unknown assailants.
The officer is reported to have sustained injuries in his leg which led him to being hospitalised at the Thika Level 5 hospital.
However, speaking to journalists, the police confirmed that the OCS had been transferred to a private facility in Nairobi, to undergo surgery on his right leg.
Despite having been transferred to the private facility, the Police confirmed that the officer was in stable condition.
It was reported that during the raid, the officers and managed to nab two kilograms of bhang at a liquor den where the raid had been staged.
Investigations into the incident have already begun.
However, at the time of publishing this article, the police were yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.
Law enforcement officers also condemned the act and lamented over rising insecurity in Juja. In the recent past, 3 boda boda riders have lost their lives in mysterious circumstances.
As a result, the police cautioned that they would not back down in the fight against illicit alcohol despite the hiccups experienced.
“When such an incident occurs it only strengthens our resolve even further, we are encouraged to continue with the fight against the sale of illicit alcohol and drugs,” the police maintained.
In a previous attack against a police officer on March 13, an inspector was stoned to death in Siaya County while conducting a raid on illicit alcohol.
The inspector was reported to have apprehended a suspect who resisted arrest, attracting the attention of rowdy youth who descended on him hurling stones.
