K24's Crime and Investigative journalist Franklin Wallah on Monday, April 15, announced his exit from the media house, wrapping up his notable run at the broadcaster.
In a social media post, Wallah lauded the Mediamax management for granting him the opportunity to perfect his craft and become a household name as a seasoned reporter in this particular beat.
The journalist is synonymous with his crime and investigations news segments namely; Jicho Langu and The Crime Beat which air during prime time news.
"They say when a baby begins to crawl is when his journey starts. In short, I wish to announce my exit from K24," his statement read in part.
"I would like to thank the management, my colleagues and fans who lauded my investigative work throughout my career."
Sources privy to the development relayed that several media houses had contacted Wallah, including TV 47 which has recently been poaching journalists in line with its quest to ascend to a tier 1 media house.
Additionally, the sources intimated that a move to Citizen TV could not be ruled out as the Royal Media station scrambles to replace its former news anchor and crime reporter Hassan Mugambi who landed a role in Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale's office as a Communications Advisor.
Sources at K24 revealed that the journalist turned down a counteroffer presented by the management, citing personal reasons.
All eyes will be on Wallah, who has extensive experience in crime reporting as enthusiasts speculate on where he is likely to end up next.
Efforts to contact Wallah for comment were futile as calls went unanswered.
The journalist has been at the centre of several crime stories that made national news including exposing the murder of social media influencer Starlet Wahu in a detailed feature.
He has also broken other stories namely; Yala killings, Mauaji ya Wambui, Teen Sex Parties, Giza la Gaza, Kisirani Kisauni among others.
Wallah joined the media industry in 2016 when he worked at the Parliament Broadcasting Unit as a cinematographer before joining KBC as a news reporter.
Three months later, he joined K24 as an investigative news reporter but left to join KTN in September 2019.
Two years later, Wallah rejoined K24 in the same capacity as a crime and investigative reporter.
