President William Ruto was on Wednesday named among the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine.
The Head of State was named alongside another Kenyan, Kennedy Odede, a philanthropist who is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO).
The list also recognised other prominent Africans who have made an impact on humanity in different fields. Among them is popular afrobeats musician Burna Boy.
It is not the first time that President Ruto has received global recognition. Last year, Time also recognised Ruto for championing climate change.
"The influence recognized on this year's TIME100 list of the world's most influential people spans industries and continents," stated TIME Chief Executive Officer Jessica Sibley.
"With our TIME100 partners, we are proud to convene the newest members of the TIME100 community for a day of conversation at the TIME100 Summit," Sibley added.
Following the unveiling of the names, the TIME100 plans to celebrate those featured in the list. The event will take place at the TIME100 Summit on April 24 in New York City.
While describing the criteria of the selection, TIME noted it spends months discussing who to include in the list. The team chooses individuals whom they believe have made a massive impact in the society within the past year.
In November last year, Ruto was named in the list of global leaders making a huge difference championing Climate Change.
The Head of State was recognised for his initiatives such as hosting the first-ever Africa Climate Summit.
Ruto while welcoming the recognition, stressed that the Climate Change conversation was important to Kenyans and Africa as a whole.
