Kenyan Lodge Owned by South African Named Among Best 100 New Hotels Globally

The new Angama Amboseli Lodge was ranked among the Best 100 New Hotels of the Year by the Travel and Leisure Magazine.

Angama Amboseli, owned and operated by Nicky and Kate Fitzgerald, a mother-daughter duo from South Africa, was acknowledged as one of the select African restaurants renowned for delivering exceptional service to their clientele.

The duo also ran and owned Angama Mara, which was started in 2015 and subsequently won numerous awards.

Nicky, Kate's mother, is a well-known figure in the international hospitality sector having begun her career in South Africa and launched over 50 hotels across the continent.

She moved to Kenya and started Angama Mara which has grown to be a top destination for tourists. She also began the Angama Safari and now Angama Amboseli.

The new lodge is an addition to the foreigners' expansive property which sits 300 metres above the floor of the Maasai Mara offering their guests a breathtaking view of the park.

It is located at Kimani Sanctuary in Kajiado County. 

The hotel charges north of Ksh210,000 per person for an all-inclusive package per person.

"The new property, with its 10 spacious suites, sits in the private Kimana Sanctuary, a 5,700-acre tract filled with wildlife, including antelope, buffalo, elephants, giraffes, impalas, and warthogs," read part of the magazine.

"Swahili for ‘suspended in mid-air’, Angama offers high-touch safari experiences in one-of-a-kind locations across East Africa. Inn-keepers at heart, our team finds joy in looking after guests and reconnecting them with the natural world," reads part of the lodge's website.

Other hotels that made it to the list include;  Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, Italy, Bulgari Hotel in Tokyo, Curtain Bluff in Antigua, North Island Okavango in Botswana, One &Only Aesthesis in Greece and Pelorus Private Island, Australia.

Others were;  Cap Karoso, Sumba, Indonesia, Como Metropolitan Singapore, Hotel San Fernando, Mexico City, Broadwick Soho, London, Capella Sydney, and Château des Fleurs, Paris among others.
