All Public Primary Schools To Have Electricity

All public primary schools will have electricity in the coming months, President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced.

The announcement on Monday came a week after the president launched the Last Mile Connectivity Project which saw 40,000 transformers commissioned therefore lighting up every village in the country.

During the launch last week, the president announced that the cost of installing electricity will be significantly reduced to ensure all Kenyans get electricity in their homes.

The electrification project is meant to facilitate the rolling out the Digitized Curriculum for schools as well as begin the roll out of the laptop project promised by The Jubilee Government in their Manifesto.

The government has come under criticism in the past after it took long to launch and implement the laptop project.

Early May it was announced that the president had opted to abandon the laptop project and instead, go for the cheaper and more portable and classy tablets.

The Standard reports that Uhuru reportedly directed his officials to work out an alternative plan to distribute tablets to schools after getting impatient with the time lost in delivering one of Jubilee’s pre-election promises.
