Bomb Scare on Moktar Daddha Street near Nairobi's Jeevanjee Gardens

Tension was high in Nairobi's City centre Wednesday morning after a suspected bomb-like object was found on Moktar Daddha Street near the popular Jeevanjee gardens.

A witness on the ground told Kenyans.co.ke that after an alarm was raised, police swiftly sealed off the area as a curious crowd milled around.

The feared object was spotted at the gate of Technical Institute of Kenya near Ufundi Cooperative building.

After investigations by officers at the scene, the situation was calmed down when it was confirmed that the object was a motor vehicle part.

Tension was high following the weekend reports which indicated that the militia group Al-Shabaab was planning to attack a school in Nairobi.

However, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet dismissed the alert as false.
