Celebrity Turn Up at the Groove Nominations Night

The Groove Nomination Night and celebration of Groove's 10th anniversary at Arboretum grounds was a star-studded event which attracted personalities from different sectors.

The Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President – Dennis Itumbi came bearing gifts for the audience in terms of contribution to the trivia prize money.

Eric Omondi, Chipukeezy, Mc Jesee, Abel Mutua and Jalango showed with a mission other than to spread laughter- support the fast growing Gospel industry.Speaking after the event, Abel Mutua expressed his surprise at learning that the young men he had been sitting next to were actually a new music group and were in the nomination list " Groove is doing a really good job of giving Gospel artistes, especially new ones a platform" he added. Chipukeezy noted the massive growth of Groove since its inception, a decade back.

The TV and media industry was fully represented with personalities like NTV's Dan Mwangi, Mother -in-Law's Celina (Katherine Kamau) , Phil Karanja (formerly of Tahidi High) and and KISS 100's Kalekye Mumo who emphasized in one of her tweets that "Groove has been the best thing to bring out the Gospel industry" ; just to mention a few.

The corporate world was not left behind either, with personalities like Heshan De Silva and  representatives from Safaricom and Nairobi Bottlers.

Gospel big wigs graced the event too. Size 8, Alice Kamande, Esther Wahome , Daddy Owen, DK Kwenye beat and Ruth Matete were just a small number off the hundreds of artistes who showed up. Former MOG member Tony expressed appreciation for the new category created in the nominations - Afro Pop Song of the Year, calling it "A pleasant surprise".

Speaking at the red carpet, Mr Tee expressed gratitude to the Groove events saying the platform has raised the standards of Gospel Industry in Kenya to grounds higher than the secular industry.
