Chief Killed During DP William Ruto's Visit to Baringo County

A government official was on Friday killed by armed bandits during Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to Baringo County.

The chief was shot by suspected pokot gunmen who attacked and disrupted a peace rally that was being addressed by Ruto.

He was 50 to 60 metres away from the DP when the attackers stormed the meeting throwing the forum into a limbo as residents scampered for safety.

Ruto moved from the area and went to address residents in Baringo North where he issued a shoot to kill order on the bandits stating that they should not be shown mercy.

“Armed criminals who can dare kill a two-day-old baby can do anything and should not be spared but face the same consequences.

"I am issuing an order to police officers and police reservists to shoot any bandit they come across,” Ruto said.

Ruto also announced that a rapid response team and Armoured Personnel Carriers would be sent to Baringo, Marakwet, Pokot to curb insecurity.
