Deputy President William Ruto on Friday issued a shoot-to-kill order on bandits who had been wreaking havoc in the North Rift region.
Ruto was speaking in Baringo County where he had flown in a bid to intervene in the ongoing attacks in the area that have seen the state of security deteriorate in Kerio Valley.
Armed Pokot bandits have been attacking locals in the area, killing and stealing cows compelling residents to flee from the area.
Ruto announced that a rapid response team and Armoured Personnel Carriers would be sent to Baringo, Marakwet, Pokot to curb insecurity.
Meanwhile, chaos marred DP Ruto's rally in Baringo North after gunshots from suspected Pokot rustlers rent the air forcing the crowd to scamper for safety.
Baringo has been in the headlines since last weekend after the killing of Loyamorok MCA Frederick Cheretei and Tiaty parliamentary aspirant Simon Kitambaa who were shot dead inside a bar in Marigat Town.
