A child died today, after being hit a by a Public Service Vehicle in Nairobi's Shauri Moyo Estate.
The Friday morning accident took place at a zebra crossing, when a woman and two children were hit as they were crossing the road.
Witnesses at the scene say that the Ummoinner matatu which hit the family was on high speed, despite approaching a zebra crossing.
The woman and one child survived the accident, albeit with injuries.
They were rushed to Metropolitan Hospital.
The other child, who died at the scene was taken to City Mortuary.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Makongeni DCIO, Patrick Mwinji, confirmed that the police were holding the vehicle in custody, pending investigations.
“The suspects involved will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are over,” he said.
