Citizen TV Sacks Top Journalists

Royal Media Services (RMS) has retrenched some of its top journalists in a move that has caused anxiety at the highly rated media house.

It has emerged that top reporters, editors and camera men were sacked from Citizen TV on Monday, in what is claimed to be a restructuring process to cut costs and reposition the company.

Well placed sources disclosed to Kenyans.co.ke that news reporters Evelyn Wambui, Kendagor Obadiah, Patrick Injendi and Pheona Kenga are among those laid off.

Two camera men identified as Musomba and Munene have been shown the door with the axe also falling on editors Stephen Kimani and Daniel Korir.

According to our sources, other staff members at RMS are also expected to leave on Wednesday, with the TV production and radio departments set to be affected.

Attempts to reach the media house were futile as their Corporates department declined to comment on the report.

A few weeks ago, Citizen TV was reported to have poached journalists from the Standard Group to replace a number of their reporters who had left the station.

Journalist Mercy Kandie, political reporter Sam Ogina and business editor Michael Karanja had allegedly moved from Kenya Television Network (KTN) to Citizen TV.
