CORD To Lose These MPs To Jubilee

The newly formed Jubilee Party (JP) has been boosted after five CORD Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Coastal region vowed to jump ship and join it as their new political tool.

Speaking in Kilifi county during a meeting with Deputy President (DP) William Ruto, the five influential leaders pledged their loyalty to the ruling government.

Led by Lunga Lunga MP Suleiman Mwashetani, the legislators declared that they were ready to form a union with Jubilee so as to be included as part of the government.

This was reiterated by Kilifi North lawmaker Gideon Mung'aro who assured residents that their leaders were now ready to cooperate with the ruling faction.

These MPs further added that they would seek re-election using JP during 2017 election despite being in a region that has perennially been dominated by the Opposition.

Others legislators who also promised to defect were Peter Shehe of Ganze, Salim Mustafa of Kilifi South and James Kamoti of Rabai constituency.

This comes barely a week after 16 Opposition leaders from the Western region defected to the new Jubilee Party which is set to be unveiled in March.

However, the ruling coalition has faced resistance even within itself with some members accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto of trying to force leaders into a party contrary to their wish.
