County's Sh47 Million Scan Machine Vandalized

A Governor is pointing an accusing finger at his political detractors following the vandalisation of a Sh47 Million CT scan machine at the county referral hospital.

Meru Governor Peter Munya alleged that some unknown people were colluding with employees at the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital to undermine his administration.

"There are political operatives who are using staffers to sabotage service delivery. Now we will have to spend money to repair the damaged equipment," he said adding that the county would be forced to spend up to Sh400,000 in repairing the machine.

Munya further revealed that the destruction of the CT Scan machine was not the only act of vandalism that had been witnessed in the hospital, as a sewage system had also been uprooted.

"We are going to deal with the people who destroyed the CT Scan and destroyed the sewer. By doing it they hindered service delivery to persons in need," he declared on Sunday.

During the recently concluded Governor's conference in Meru County, delegates reportedly received pamphlets in their hotel rooms titled, “Munya’s reign of terror and plunder" which accused the governor of various ills including misappropriation of funds.

Munya cautioned those behind the acts against using underhand methods to undermine his County Government, stating that if they had something against him they ought to go to the anti-corruption agency or the auditors.
