Court Bars Waiguru From Commenting on NYS Case

The Court on Thursday made its final ruling in a case where suspects in the NYS scandal had sought to bar former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru from commenting on the scam.

Delivering the ruling, Principal Magistrate David Mburu granted the request barring Waiguru from making any comment regarding the Sh1.6 Billion scandal.

Mburu further prohibited Ms Waiguru, who is eyeing the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, from causing the publication of any material concerning the NYS scandal.

The case was filed in September 2016 by some of the suspects who claimed that Waiguru had been commenting on the matter in an attempt to gain political mileage.

In the petition filed at Milimani Law Courts, the complainants claimed that the former CS was making public statements and causing the same to be published by the media.

They highlighted that her remarks were prejudicial and were likely to affect the NYS saga which is already ongoing.

Waiguru, who was linked to the loss of millions from the NYS has on countless times distanced herself from the scandal.
