The ongoing party primaries around the country were marred by all sorts of chaos and drama as several high-profile leaders were shown the door but that was not the case in Kahawa Wendani ward in Kiambu County.
Cyrus Omondi, who hails from Siaya County, won the Jubilee Member of County Assembly (MCA) nominations in Kahawa Wendani ward and is set to be the first person from the Lakeside region to be part of Kiambu County Assembly.
Kenyans, for a long time, have been said to vote along tribal lines.
Kahawa Wendani is largely populated by Kikuyus and Omondi's victory surprised many.
Cyro, as he is popularly known, beat all odds to emerge the winner in an area largely considered to be dominated by communities from Central Parts of Kenya.
He stated that he had been a leader of a community policing group in the area and is well known among the residents.
Omondi further revealed that his previous attempts at politics both failed and he was later advised by members of his constituency to dump the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for Jubilee.
He swiftly did so and it is believed that this move greatly contributed to his win in the nominations.
