Details of Secret NASA Strategy to Beat Jubilee in Hunt for Coast Votes

A secret strategy by the National Super Alliance (NASA) has leaked indicating how the Opposition plan to beat Jubilee in the hunt for the Coastal region votes.

The strategy contained in a document dubbed "Pwani ni NASA" outlines how NASA intends to bag an ambitious 85% of all votes from the region.

The document reveals that top Opposition leaders will be relying on professionals to urge voters to support NASA in the region known for a low voter turnout during elections.

NASA has also formed a group led by Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and his Mombasa counterpart, Ali Hassan Joho to comb all the six Coast counties to drum up support for the Alliance.

A massive tour of the six counties ( Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, Taita Taveta and Tana River) is also scheduled for early June.

The tour which comprises of huge caravans is meant to reverse any gains made by Jubilee and securely lock in the votes for NASA.

To facilitate this elaborate plan, the Opposition has approached the business community and other people of goodwill to provide vehicles and other campaign materials.

The secret document reveals that those who defected will be portrayed as traitors "who have colluded with a government that does not have the interest of the people of Coast at heart."

Another strategy, according to the leaked plan is to paint the Jubilee administration as the worst government ever for the people of the of the region.

To build its case, the document cites harassment of political leaders from the region, government's failure to address the emotive land issue and failure to implement any meaningful development for the residents.

The construction of a dry port in Naivasha has also been highlighted as a key point of concern. The document reads in part: "The people should know that the plan will lead to loss of employment opportunities and revenue for not only Mombasa but also other counties in the region."

The region is considered an opposition stronghold but Jubilee has made attempts to woo voters with a section of politicians defecting from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to the ruling party.

Among those who have defected are Gideon Mungaro (MP, Kilifi North), Salim Mvurya (Governor, Kwale), Zainab Chidzuga (Woman Representative, Kwale) and Hazel Katana (Deputy Governor, Mombasa)
