DP Ruto Holds Private Meeting with Baringo Leaders Over Moi in Uasin Gishu County

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday held a private meeting at his home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County, with Baringo leaders in a bid to counter the growing popularity of Gideon Moi's Party - KANU.

According to sources who attended the meeting, Ruto was unimpressed with the resurgence of KANU and its recent activities in Rift valley.

“The DP was particularly unimpressed by Kanu’s heightened activities in the region. He urged leaders to ensure that Jubilee wins all the seats in the 2017 General Election,” said the source who sought anonymity.

The DP is said to have told the leaders to popularises Jubilee in Baringo County and ensure it retains its popularity ahead of the upcoming Genera election.

During the meeting, Ruto also promised all candidates eyeing different posts that Jubilee nominations would be free and fair.

Meanwhile, Moi has been giving Jubilee headache in the recent past after claims emerged that there was a possibility he could join the National Super Alliance (NASA) being spearheaded by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Raila Odinga.

This even compelled President Uhuru Kenyatta to personally call Moi and plead with him not to join NASA and assured him his interests were well taken care of by Jubilee.

Rift Valley is considered one of the key strongholds of Jubilee if Kenyatta is to be re-elected for a second term in office.
