DPP Slaps Pastor Ng'ang'a With 4 Charges

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko, has directed the charging of Pastor James Ng'ang'a over a fatal accident he allegedly caused.

Pastor Ng'ang'a will face charges of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to report an accident, giving false information to a public officer and conspiracy to defeat justice.

The televangelist has been on the spot for allegedly causing an accident at Manguo area in Limuru, that killed a woman, Ms Mercy Njeri, and left her husband seriously injured.The televangelist is accused of causing

Ng'ang'a has since distanced himself from the claims, maintaining that he was neither behind the wheel nor does the range-rover, caught up in the accident, belong to him.

Also slapped with charges are Kenya Police Airwing Inspector Christopher Nzioka and officer Patrick Baya.

The two are charged with covering up the evidence that implicated Ng'ang'a and neglecting their official duty. They are also facing additional charges of giving false information.

Simon Kuria, the man who presented himself as the driver at the time of the accident, is charged for conspiring against justice.

Mr Tobiko said he approved prosecution of the five suspects after investigators and prosecutors filled the gaps that were identified in the file forwarded to his office by Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet on August 10.
