EACC Officers Attacked in Isiolo During Raid at Governor Godana Doyo's Home

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers were on Thursday morning injured after being attacked during a raid on a governor's house.

The officers had raided Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo's house looking for documents related to a multi-million road in the county that was never constructed.

The detectives accompanied by police officers had arrived at the home in Chechelesi area and attempted to gain entry into the house but were locked out.

They were later allowed to ransack the house after the governor's lawyer arrived.

However, things turned for the worst after Doyo's supporters who had camped outside the compound chanting praise slogans turned their anger on the detectives.

They reportedly hurled stones at the officers and their vehicle forcing them to flee for safety.

Reports indicate that the angry residents accused senior officials at EACC of planning to prosecute the governor on allegations of corruption thus block him from vying in the August 8 General Election.

The governor is facing abuse of office charges and the officers had been dispatched from the Commission's headquarters while others had been drawn from regional offices.

They were searching for the documents at the governor's residence and at the county treasury offices.

Confirming the attack, Isiolo County Police Commander Charles Ontita stated that one suspect had been arrested in relation to the incident.
