El Nino Floods Kill More Children

Two boys drowned on Thursday after being swept away by heavy floods in Bomet and Kirinyaga Counties as the El Nino rains continue to pelt the country.

An 8-year-old boy in Bomet was swimming with five friends in Chepkositonik River when he was carried away by strong waves.

County Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai, confirmed that the body of the deceased who was a Standard eight pupil, was retrieved and taken to a mortuary in the area.

In Kirinyaga, the body of a 10-year-old boy disappeared in a river after he left a coffee farm, where he was with his mother picking coffee.

The child's father David Magwi, said police officers were looking for his body and that they were positive it would be found. The incident brings the total number of victims of the deadly rains to three in the last one week.

In Tana River over 4,000 families are displaced after the River banks burst completely in Hola Town.
