Fire Burns down Dormitories, Destroys Property worth Millions

More than 200 students in Ranen Adventist schools in Awendo, Migori County had to sleep out in the cold after an inferno razed down their dormitories.

Witnesses say the fire started late at night when students were in their classes for the evening preps.

The fire is said to have started in the primary school dormitories before spreading to other dormitories.

The Standard reports that the property destroyed was worth over 10 million shillings. The school’s principal says that no student was hurt in the fire.

Police have launched investigations into the incident and say that they are not ruling out arson.
