Five National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-principals Agree to Share Cabinet Slots Equally

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto is set to win big in the new National Super Alliance (NASA) power-sharing deal after the principals agreed to share cabinet positions equally.

According to sources Governor Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party under the umbrella of NASA will get four cabinet positions.

In the deal, the principals — Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Ruto will share equally the 22 Cabinet positions provided for in the Constitution.

Governor Ruto as the fifth NASA principal has also been guaranteed at least four parastatal slots of his choice, should NASA win.

“They have agreed each them will not fill the posts exclusively from their own communities,” stated the source.

The source added that principals have however reserved the two other Cabinet slots- National Assembly and the Senate and majority- until after the August polls.

He pointed out that the posts of the Principal Secretaries will also come from different communities across the country.

The source added that the strategy deployed by NASA as an all-inclusive outfit was a direct onslaught on the ruling Jubilee party that they claimed the government was dominated by two major tribes.

The five principals are next week expected to name the outfits presidential candidate and running mate.
