Five People Arrested in Naivasha Allegedly Distributing Leaflets Accusing Jubilee Aspirant Jane Kihara of Being ICC witness

Five people escaped death narrowly on Friday after an angry crowd attempted to lynch them for allegedly distributing leaflets accusing former Naivasha MP Jane Kihara of being an International Criminal Court (ICC) witness.

According to residents, the five were spotted in some estates distributing the leaflets indicating that Ms Kihara should not be voted in through the Jubilee Party since she was an ICC witness.

Members of the public then mobilised, identified the vehicle the group was using and gave chase before cornering the suspects.

"We managed to corner the suspects in Naivasha town where they were beaten then handed over to the police,” stated the resident.

He added that the leaflets found in the car had a list of Jubilee aspirants purportedly preferred by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Naivasha DCI boss Kennedy Njoroge confirmed the incident stating that the suspects had recorded statements with the police.

Njoroge warned aspirants not to use the incident to malign their opponents after the residents claimed that the vehicle belonged to one of the aspirants in the area.

The former Naivasha MP had last year claimed that she turned down lucrative offers from the ICC to be a prosecution witness and instead, became a defence witness.

"I refused to be lured by those lucrative deals they were giving me and I ended up becoming a key defence witness and that is how the case against the President collapsed," explained Kihara.

She is vying for the Naivasha parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket.
