Funyula MP Paul Otuoma Resigns From ODM

A senior official in Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has resigned from the Party.

Funyula MP Paul Otuoma, who is also ODM Vice Chairman, on Friday handed in his resignation letter to the Party Secretary General.

Otuoma who is also vying for Busia Gubernatorial seat further requested to be deregistered from the Party list.

“I am a life party member No: 000032, having been issued with Life Membership Certificate. I would wish to resign and withdraw my membership from the party with immediate effect,” read part of the letter.

The MP made the move just days after expressing discord in the recently concluded ODM primaries in Busia where he controversially lost to incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong, though the results were cancelled.

The Orange Party announced that the exercise would be repeated in Teso South and North where results were allegedly altered, a proposal Otuoma disagreed with.

He later indicated that he would let the ODM ticket be awarded to Ojaamong since he did not wish to divide the Party but maintained that he would still be on the ballot come August 8.
