Gideon Moi Tasked to Decide Whether it is Jubilee or NASA

The KANU Party led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has begun the process of deciding whether it will be rallying behind President Uhuru Kenyatta or the Raila Odinga-led team in the forthcoming General Election.

Speaking after KANU's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday, Mr Moi noted that he was given two weeks to negotiate with leaders of CORD and Jubilee then give a report on the best option.

"I have been mandated to talk to everybody and keep all the options open. As at now we do not have a preferred candidate, but in about two weeks, we will meet again for me to give a report on who to support," Moi said.

The senator added that during the scouting process, he will be looking out for side with the best interests for the cockerel party as well as the country at large.

"In making this choice, we will, of course, be guided, importantly by who between the Jubilee and the Opposition presidential candidates has the best interest for us and the country," Moi mentioned.

KANU convened the meeting following a declaration by Secretary-General Nick Salat that the Party was part of the Opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA).

Salat maintained that: "Even if they decide to support Jubilee presidential candidate, I will not let my personal political differences with Deputy President William Ruto force party members to support the opposition candidate against their will."

Salat came under fire after he publicly made the stand with KANU leaders distancing themselves and the party from his utterances.
