Global Events Set to Keep World's Focus on Kenya After GES

Just like the recently concluded Global Entrepreneurship Summit had the attention of global investors and indeed the whole world looking towards Kenya, there are number of events lined up this year, that will continue selling Kenya to the world.

Reports indicate that in September, two big events will be held in Nairobi.

One will be a convention of African Heads of Government who will be meeting to review the progress of African Peer Review Forum (APR).

President Uhuru Kenyatta is the current chairman of APR whose mandate is to ensure that the policies and practices of participating countries conform to the agreed values in democracy and political governance, economic governance, corporate governance and social-economic development.

The convention is set to bring in African leaders into the country.

Later, albeit at an undisclosed date, Kenya is set to host Global Conference of Tour Operators, The Star reports.

The conference is set to bring to Kenya many international hotel owners, investors, financiers, management companies as well as their advisers.

In November, according to a statement by State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu, Kenya expects a Papal Visit, as Pope Francis is set to visit Kenya among other countries during his African tour.

December will see Kenya host the 10th World Trade Organization-Ministerial Conference.

Kenya won the bid to host the mega event in December last year.

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary - Amina Mohamed through a press statement, confirmed that arrangements towards hosting the mega event are underway.

The World Trade Organization has a membership of 162 countries from across the world.

The conference is set to attract at least 7,000 participants from across the world.

In a year that has seen the country grapple with increased terror threats and negative publicity, Kenya is set to benefit greatly from the events it hosts this year.

Apart from increased business especially for the hotel and tourism industry, investors from all over the world will be brought to Kenya through the events, increasing chances of investments and partnerships.
