The Government Will Deal with Joho - DP Ruto Says

Deputy President William Ruto has vowed to deal with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for threatening to sue his Kwale counterpart Salim Mvurya over an article published on January 31 by the  Daily Nation.

Speaking during the voter registration drive in the Coast region, Ruto said that the government would support Mvurya, who was also present,  and ensure resources are distributed equally in the Coast region.

"We are behind Mvurya as the national government to ensure the people of Coast get justice on issues on land and minerals.

"Those threatening they will take you to court, watakiona. They will meet us first before the meet you so stand firm," the DP affirmed.

Ruto also warned that the government would ruthlessly deal with politicians engaging in the illegal drug business but failed to mention specific names.

In the said article, Mr Mvurya claimed that Joho wanted to forcefully gain control of the mining business in Kwale but after refusing to bow down to the pressure from the Mombasa Governor, a rift emerged between them.

"Governor Joho wanted people who can kneel before him. He wanted to rule from Vanga in the south to Kiunga in the north so that all the five governors can be under him,” Mr Mvurya added.

On his part, Joho termed the story malicious, untrue and accused the Governor and the Daily Nation of defaming his name. He demanded an apology within seven days failure to which he would move to court.
